This infuriated the activists, so now they have convinced the Attorney General and the legislature to focus on investigating and prosecuting agencies and officers for problems that do not exist:ġ) The Attorney General (AG) has asked for $10 million a year and 56 employees to prosecute police officers who use deadly force. Six months later the legislature realized it went too far and it partially rolled back some of the draconian measures. The laws were designed to limit officer discretion, prevent officers from proactively enforcing the law and restrict when officers could use force. The legislature exploited the death of George Floyd and passed a series of "police reform" bills in 2021 that were based on the premise that law enforcement agencies are corrupt and officers are racially biased. The Washington State Legislature and the Washington State Attorney General have given the anti-police advocacy groups everything they want and have created an adversarial relationship with law enforcement. Washington State is a dangerous place to be a peace officer.
